MYMPLaw Maker Francis G.Escudero
Sorsogon's 1st District representative whose on his 3rd term now...is one of the most admiring men in the field of politics. This man talks with integrity. He talks tough when it come to ambition
...and i really did like him when he said :
"The beauty of ambition is that it is free. You don't have to pay for it. You just dream about it and it's yours as long as you don't steal, you don't lie and you don't step on someone to reach your ambition"
Escudero says he owes his political career to the elder Escudero, a former Agriculture Secretary who had actually discouraged his son two times from entering politics. "He influenced me in terms of instilling in me the right attitude in so far as holding public office is concerned," he says.
he admits that politics was already in his mind even right after he graduated with a degree in politics science from UP. he wanted to run initially for councilor but he was prevailed to take up law. which s a good thng..hehe...after graduating he again thought of runnng for mayor. but again his father requested him to pursue post-graduate studies in law. When his father finally finished his term as congressman of the 1st district of Sorsogon and was appointed to the Cabinet by then President Fidel Ramos, the position was left vacant. Francis felt his time had come. "A consultation assembly was conducted for the purpose and I was chosen and proclaimed as the local party's candidate for the position," he recalls.
His father gave him valuable advice. "Each and every hour of the day, you should and must be available to the constituency to whom you owe your position."
As a result, Escudero ensures that once congressional sessions had adjourned for the week, he goes to his district, visits his constituents, and interacts with them even, no matter if they live in a remote barangay.
As a member of the ruling coalition, Escudero, indeed, has become one of the most influential legislators in the country. But he says he has certain views contrary to the administration line. "I think it's more a dictate of the changing times and a diversion from traditional politics where, if you're a member of the administration party, you are obliged to kowtow, to follow blindly anything that is said by the administration, " he says.
He says Congress is fortunate that it has produced independent-minded lawmakers. "Even if one is with the minority, one should not be ashamed of, nor should he shy away from the responsibility of supporting whatever moves the administration may have"<--- and we Filipinos r more fortunate to have him
Escudero says this also applies to the majority coalition. "If I believe there are some things that the administration needs to be reminded of, I will also not shirk from, nor deny this, nor refuse this responsibility," he says.
Despite its lure, Escudero confesses he would choose teaching over politics anytime. "Politics is not my life," he says. "I will not die nor kill for it just to hold on to my position." ---- but i dont really thnk he can stop politics..he might not strongly fight for a position..but who knows ppl wll do it for him..which i know..is not impossible
and..i wld definitely love it..and im gonna wait for that time
Last February 24, 2006, Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo issued Presidential Proclamation 1017,
declaring a state of national emergency
.Immediately after, she issued General Order No. 5, directing
the chiefs of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP)
to “immediately carry out necessary and appropriate actions and measures to suppress and prevent acts of terrorism and lawless violence".
Since then, these two issuances have been used to justify the imposition of severe limitations on — and in certain instances the outright denial of — civil liberties guaranteed and protected under the Bill of Rights , including the freedoms of speech, expression, of the press, and public assembly. Ostensibly on the strength of Proclamation 1017 and General Order 5, a general ban on rallies has been imposed, the PNP has raided one newspaper [Tribune] and threatens to take over other media outfits which “fail to conform to government standards,” and numerous persons, including several members of Congress, have been arrested without warrant!!!
The simple and undeniable fact is that Proclamation 1017 and General Order 5 have been utilized by the PNP and other executive organs to mount a vigorous and unrelenting campaign against perceived critics of the administration, in full and flagrant disregard of the protections enshrined in the Bill of Rights as well as the legal rules of procedure. Equally undeniable is that the President has sanctioned, or at the very least tacitly approved, these actions undertaken by her subordinates, all of whom are fully within her control.
The indisputable truth is that the violations of the Bill of Rights done pursuant to Proclamation 1017 and General Order 5 are acts of the President.
It must be emphasized that nothing in the Constitution can authorize the suspension of the Bill of Rights[ for it is stated that our consitution is fixed and inviolatable
]. Even under a declared state of martial law, which the Arroyo administration repeatedly insists this is not
, the Bill of Rights remains fully operative. Thus, the suppression of free speech, the muzzling of the free press, and the prohibition on public assembly sanctioned by the two issuances cannot be construed as anything other than clearly and unequivocally unconstitutional.
by proclaiming th PD 10.17..she was just making it real obviousthat shes not doing good..and she knows very well that ppl r not pleased wth her administration anymore
shes just over reacting anyways..the former pres. Aquino didnt even proclaim such address though wat happend to her admnstration b4 was worst that wat shes facing now.

We, the sovereign Filipino people, imploring the aid of Almighty God, in order to build a just and humane society and establish a Government that shall embody our ideals and aspirations, promote the common good, conserve and develop our patrimony, and secure to ourselves and our posterity the blessings of independence and democracy under the rule of law and a regime of truth, justice, freedom, love, equality, and peace , do ordain and promulgate this Constitution.
